Everything Connected to the Quran is Great
The Quran is the final revelation, the direct word of Allah, sent as guidance for all of humanity. It is no surprise that everything associated with the Quran holds a special status in Islam. From the greatest month to the greatest night, from the most honoured angel to the best of mankind, every aspect connected to the Quran is elevated in rank. Let’s explore the magnificence of everything tied to this divine revelation.
Ramadan the Greatest Month
Among the twelve months of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is the most honoured. What makes it unique? It is the month in which the Quran was revealed, making it the most spiritually significant time for believers.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also highlighted its status, saying,
Ramadan is more than just fasting. It is a time of deep reflection, increased worship, and drawing closer to Allah. However, its greatest virtue is that it was chosen as the month in which Allah sent down His final guidance to humanity.
Laylatul Qadr the Greatest Night
Among all the nights in the year, Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Decree) is the most significant. It is on this night that the Quran was first revealed, marking the beginning of divine guidance for all of humanity.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasised its importance, saying,
This single night is greater than a lifetime of worship. Every act of devotion performed during it carries immense rewards, far beyond human comprehension. It is an opportunity to seek Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and countless blessings.
Jibreel the Honoured Messenger of Revelation
From among the countless angels created by Allah, Jibreel (Gabriel) holds a special and noble status. He was the angel chosen to bring down revelation to the prophets, playing a key role in the transmission of divine knowledge.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) described Jibreel as a mighty and honoured angel, saying:
Jibreel was the angel who carried the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), making him among the most honoured of all angels. His role as the messenger of divine revelation places him in a position of unmatched significance.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ the Greatest Prophet
All the prophets were sent by Allah to guide their people, but Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was chosen as the final and greatest of them all. He was entrusted with the last and most complete revelation, sent not for a single nation but for all of humanity.
The Prophet himself said,
His status is directly linked to the responsibility he was given—to convey the Quran, the ultimate guidance for all times. As the Seal of the Prophets, his mission was universal, and his teachings continue to shape the lives of billions.
The Arabic Language the Chosen Language
Among all the languages spoken across the world, Arabic was divinely chosen as the language of the Quran. This alone grants it a unique and elevated status.
Arabic is not just a language of communication—it is a miracle in its depth, structure, and precision. The Quran’s linguistic perfection, its unmatched eloquence, and its ability to convey deep meanings in a concise manner highlight why Allah chose Arabic as the medium of His final revelation.
Its preservation over centuries and the fact that it continues to be studied and recited exactly as it was revealed further emphasise its significance. Unlike other languages that evolve over time, Quranic Arabic remains unchanged, safeguarding the message of Allah for all generations.
Makkah the Sacred City
Makkah holds a unique and unparalleled status among all the cities on Earth. It is the place where the first verses of the Quran were revealed, the home of the Kaaba, and the spiritual centre of Islam.
The name Bakkah mentioned in the Quran is another name for Makkah, referring to the same sacred city. Some scholars mention that Bakkah specifically refers to the area of the Kaaba, while Makkah refers to the city as a whole.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
Its significance is not just historical—it remains the direction of prayer for all Muslims, the destination for Hajj and Umrah, and the place where divine revelation first descended upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Friday the Best Day of the Week
Every day holds its own significance, but Friday is the most blessed day of the week. It is often referred to as the "Eid of the week," a day of gathering, reflection, and increased worship.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
The Friday sermon (Khutbah) serves as a weekly reminder of the Quran’s teachings, reinforcing its message within the hearts of believers. It is a day that brings Muslims together, strengthening both faith and community.
The Hafidh the Honoured Among the Believers
Among the believers, those who memorise and preserve the Quran in their hearts hold a special status. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) highlighted their virtue, saying:
A Hafidh (one who has memorised the Quran) is honoured not just in this world but also in the Hereafter, where their position in Paradise is elevated according to how much of the Quran they have memorised. They are the carriers of divine words, chosen to safeguard the message of Allah.
Conclusion
Everything connected to the Quran holds a unique and elevated status. From the blessed month of Ramadan to the sacred night of Laylatul Qadr, from the honoured angel Jibreel to the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), each has been chosen by Allah for a noble purpose. The Arabic language was selected as the medium of revelation, Makkah as the place where divine guidance descended, and Friday as the most blessed day of the week.
Likewise, those who memorise and teach the Quran are among the most honoured believers, carrying the responsibility of preserving Allah’s words. Every aspect linked to the Quran is elevated, reflecting its divine nature and significance.
By engaging with the Quran—reciting it, understanding it, and living by its teachings—we, too, can connect to this greatness. The more we attach ourselves to the Book of Allah, the more we align ourselves with the blessings and honour that come with it.
